The Storm Academy
U9
We would like to introduce our Storm Academy,
an advanced learning environment for our U9 players. Coming
into its third year, the
Academy is designed to include those players that are looking
to advance their skills training in a more disciplined arena.
The players are selected to the Academy for their existing
talent and for the desire and mindset to achieve more technical
training with fellow-talented players. This is to be taken
as a more serious environment than our regular rec clinics.
The Academy players will still practice and play with their
rec teams, but will train and take part in matches against
other surrounding academy teams as well. Last season the
Academy played approximately 6-8 games, sometimes combining
with some of our U10 Storm team players, with competition
coming from both Jacksonville and visiting Triangle teams.
Play dates may be on either Saturday or Sunday.
The training consists of one training session per week,
for a minimum of eight weeks. Trey Folcher, the club's
president and licensed staff coach, will conduct the sessions.
If you feel that your player is eligible for the Storm Academy,
please contact your Age Group Coordinator. Again, please
keep in mind the talent level that is required, as there
will be a “tryout” of sorts so that we maintain
the quality environment - space will be limited. The
cost of the program is $60 and includes a jersey for training
and games.

The Storm Jr. Academy
U8
As with the older players in the Storm Academy,
this is a setting for those U8 players who want more technical
teaching beyond our regular clinics. Many of these
players have been playing with us for three years and have
benefited from good parent coaches – and continue
to do so! However, in addition to the regular coaching,
many of these players and their families have asked for
this, so we are obliging!
Keep in mind that these are young players and this is not
a situation where we are going to get intense with these
children. It is simply going to provide a fun, yet more
serious clinical environment for them to learn and improve.
Again, we truly only want those dedicated players
who want this, not necessarily mom and dad looking for the
next Pele! If a child is pushed into something, oftentimes
we do not get the right outcome: and training settings such
as this achieve the best results when everyone is on the
same page.
The Junior Academy will be lead by licensed coaches Ellis
Pinder and Dennis Kautz.
The total cost of the training
is $45, which includes a t-shirt for training. There
will be a minimum of six sessions, beginning early in the
season. Space will be limited
if you are interested or wish to receive more information.
